Teaching Philosophy

My goal is to teach all of my students to communicate in Spanish. To accomplish this, I will be implementing some proven strategies for foreign language instruction. Some of these strategies are traditional while others are more contemporary.

In these courses we will be using “comprehensible input” to acquire the Spanish language. “Acquiring” a language is very different than “learning” a language. When you learned how to speak your first language, you acquired it naturally by listening to other people speak it around you for a long time; not by studying it. Therefore, almost all of our class time will be spent using Spanish--not using English to talk about Spanish-- and the focus will be on listening and reading. We will do a variety of listening, reading, writing and speaking activities to accommodate different learning styles and be on track with Idaho State standards.

I am available every school day from 7:30 am to at least 4:00 pm. If you have a question or need help with anything, please don't hesitate to ask and to drop by. I am here because I WANT to help!
