You will pick a mythological character from the Odyssey and create a wanted poster like the example I have attached. You can do it on a Google slide or a piece of paper. 
Characters can include:

Create a one page collage or a Google Slide presentation and include the following evidence from the novel:

Use an object to represent the book (a symbol) (6 points)
One quote you love (make sure to include the page number) (6 points)
One example of metaphor from the novel (need the page number) (6 points)
One example of simile from the novel (need the page number) (6 points)
One example of flashback from the novel (6 points)
One example of foreshadowing from the novel (6 points)

You will be required to write a 5 paragraph essay related to ONE of the topics below or you can find your own topic related to self reflection and get it approved by me. 
What is your life motto or words you live by and why? Where did you get those words. 
What does success mean to you? Who inspires you and why?
Is self care important? Why or why not?
Who inspires you the most? Why do they inspire you?
Some times it is easy to go down the "wrong path." What does "wrong path" mean to you? 
You will find something that supports your thoughts in your paper including but not limited to a song, a person, a poem, a book, etc. 


You will also need to include a simile or metaphor AND flashback or foreshadowing.


Your paper should be structure like:

Introduction: Make sure you are grabbing the attention of your audience and tell them will your paper be about. You will need 4-5 sentences in this paragraph. 

You will need 5 sentences in this paragraph.
Body Paragraph #1: Explain what your topic is about, use facts and statements to inform the reader of what you are talking about. You will need 5 sentences in this paragraph.
Body Paragraph #2: Use your evidence (poem, person, book, etc.) and then explain how it supports how you feel. 
Body Paragraph #3: Explain how someone from the opposite side might feel or maybe you can talk about the struggles related to the topic. You will need 4-5 sentences in this paragraph.
Conclusion: Wrap it up. Use another attention getter and review all your body paragraphs. You will need 4-5 sentences in this paragraph.

Grading break down:
Each paragraph will be worth 10 points total. Each paragraph need to have 5 sentences and I will grade each sentence for 2 points based on structure of the sentences. 
25 points total for your use of simile or metaphor AND flashback or foreshadowing. 
25 points for your supporting evidence (poem, song, novel, person, etc.)
I have included an example of the essay structure I would like and how your document needs to be set up. You can not use fun fonts. I also included a rubric and what I am looking for when it comes to essay structure.

Instructions: 

Below you will find an argumentative writing prompt.  Please read the prompt carefully making yourself aware of all the parts you must answer.  You may create your own graphic organizer and/or outline on lined paper.  Once you have organized your paper, you will be expected to answer the prompt with five or more paragraphs, using the articles provided to provide evidence to back up your claims.  As you read the articles, feel free to highlight, underline, and take notes on paper.  You will be given one class period to read the articles and brainstorm your essay, then a second class period to type the essay.  

Prompt: 

It seems that everyone is on social media these days.  Through status updates, locations, pictures, and videos, social media is a way for us to share our lives with the world. However, the content we post often includes people other than ourselves. If you take a picture of someone and put it on your social media account, have you invaded their privacy? What expectation of privacy do you have when you are in someone else’s pictures?  

Read the following sources carefully.  Then, in an essay that synthesizes at least three of the sources, develop a position about social media privacy.


In your response, be sure to:
consider the purpose and audience of your essay and write five or more paragraphs, including a good introduction and conclusion. 
define the issue and skillfully orient the reader to the topic in the introduction. 
introduce a precise and knowledgeable claim in a sophisticated thesis statement and develop that claim with relevant body paragraphs.
create cohesion through skillful use of linking words, phrases, and clauses within and between paragraphs that are purposeful, and have a logical progression of ideas from beginning to to end. 
provide a meaningful and reflective conclusion that draws from and supports your claims. 
provide substantial and pertinent textual evidence from the articles provided to you to support your claims, and seamlessly integrate those sources into your essay, using persuasive and valid reasoning.
convincingly refute specific counter claims.
use purposeful and varied sentence structure, and strategically use academic and domain-specific vocabulary that is appropriate for the audience and purpose.
use proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization.

You will write a 3 paragraph narrative story. It can be made up about anything. 

1st paragraph is to introduce the story and characters. The conflict should be introduced here. 

2nd paragraph will be the main conflict. The climax will happen here. 

3rd paragraph will be the falling action and resolution.

I attached a rubric. This shows you what I will be looking for when grading you final paper!
