Here are the instructions for the Poetry Extra Credit assignment. There is also an example of what I am looking for. 

Important: 
1. I do not accept late work for extra credit! You HAVE to turn it in by Friday, May 12th.
2. You will have to complete this assignment on your OWN time.

Now that you have had some practice writing emails to teachers, it is time to try writing some emails to counselors. Your counselors get bombarded with SO many emails from students, so if you can make yours stand out by following the rules and having good manners (the right tone), you will have a better chance of getting a response. 

Read each scenario and then craft an email. Pay attention to capitalization!
There are four scenarios - you get 10 points for each one.

1. The Brag Sheet must be filled out before class on Thursday, April 20th.
2. If you get your parent or guardian to fill out the Parent Bragging Form before tomorrow, you will get 20 points extra credit on this assignment.
3. The Google Doc is where we will be creating your Resume, and we will be using it on Thursday and Friday.

Here is where you should write your Argument writing assignment, when you are ready to start writing.

Don't forget to use MLA formatting guidelines (heading, page numbers, double space, etc).

We will use this Google doc in conjunction with the attached video. The assignment is to highlight different elements of the Body Paragraph example.

If you are doing this from home, please read the instructions at the top of the Google doc.

Use this Google Doc to organize TWO pieces of evidence from TWO separate sources on your topic.

Find 3 articles on a topic and record the information on the table.
Then turn in.

As you read:
- pick one color to highlight evidence that has to do with numbers, statistics, percentages
- pick one color to highlight evidence that summarizes (the study, the results of the study, the problem, the solution)
- pick one color to highlight attention-grabbing evidence, anything that would cause people to sit up and pay attention

Use this Google Doc to take notes in our mini-unit "Finding Evidence & Developing Claims"

This is your digital journal for our unit on Introductions. This is also where you will take any notes that we do in class. We will use this approximately twice per week. Each journal entry will be worth 10 points apiece.

Grade will not be based on spelling or punctuation, but on how completely you have answered the question.

We will read this article in class and talk about the evidence we find. If you are absent, read this article and highlight evidence that answers this question: "How does peer pressure affect students' educational choices?"


To get credit for this assignment, you need to add 4 annotations to the assignment. You can find DETAILS on what to do in the "Finding Evidence Slides."

Open the Google Doc to write your Introduction. Make sure you turn the assignment in when you are done.

1. Pay attention to spelling and grammar.
2. Before turning it in, read through it a couple of times to look for mistakes.

Open the Google Docs attached and practice turning opinions into claims by rewriting them in 3rd Person POV, and making them bold, confident statements.

Each student needs to turn in their OWN worksheet, even if they work with another student on the assignment.

You may work with a partner on this, but you will each have your OWN worksheet to turn in. 

In the Google Slides, you will see topic options. Choose one on Thursday and a different one on Friday while I am gone to complete this assignment.
